Read for a Lifetime
About:
Read for a Lifetime, sponsored by Jesse White, Secretary of State and State Librarian, and the Illinois Center for Book, is the first statewide reading program to target high school students.
Purpose:
Read for a Lifetime was designed to promote the enjoyment of reading by encouraging students to read both classic and contemporary literature, and rewarding them for their effort. By participating in Read for a Lifetime, students develop a love of books and reading that will last a lifetime.
Program Directions:
EJSHS 9th-12th grade students can participate in this reading program, by first letting Mrs. Haan know of your intent to participate. After this has been established, students must read 4 titles from this list of 25. After reading the four (or more) chosen titles, Mrs. Haan will submit your information to the state of Illinois where you will receive a certificate from Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White; in addition, you will receive a $10 Gift Card from the EJSHS Media Center.
